July 2005
A MESSAGE FROM THE
COMMODORE

Hope everyone is having a safe, fun summer sailing! At least the weather is much more cooperative than last year, and the log on our Parrot Eyes shows it! So far we have had good turnouts at all the Fleet 21 Outings this season. The Memorial Day Margarita Party, the Montrose MOB and Pizza event, Jackson Park Jimmy Buffet Party and last weekend's Michigan City Sail-over have all been a great success; good sailing, good friends, and good food! Thanks to all our members who organized these get togethers, great job!

Let's try and keep the momentum going throughout the summer. With our upcoming Hammond, North Point and Montrose events planned for the rest of July and August, we still have some time to get together to sail and party. Let's make sure everyone knows about these upcoming outings; if you haven't seen a club member in a while call them up and talk up the events. Let's also try and reach out to the newer members who have joined our club in the last year or two and make sure they feel welcome to our next outings. The good news about so many outings is that there are so many to chose from that a few are bound to fit in your schedule.

Remember we are taking a break in July, so our next meeting is Thursday 8/18/05 back at Columbia Yacht Club.
Also, while this year is still young, your club officers are beginning to plan for next year. Drop me a letter, and email, or give me a call if you have any ideas or suggestions for the remainder of this year or next. We really would like to know what type of outings or programs you are most interested in. Do you like rotating our meetings between Burnham and Columbia? Let us know what is working or what isn't. This is your club and we need to meet as many of your needs as we can.
Anyway, enjoy the month off from meetings, and we hope to see you on the lake.

Your Commodore
Terry

SUMMER SAILS

There’s no better way to experience what Fleet 21 is all about than by attending one of our summer sailing outings. Sail to one of these events if you can; if time is short and you know you won’t be able to sail to an event, drive there! You’ll still be welcome. Yet to come this summer are the following events:

July 16 & 17 LMCA Annual Rendezvous in Holland, Michigan
July 29 – 31 Hammond Perogi Fest (flyer in this newsletter)
August 13 & 14 North Point Venetian Night
August 20 Chicago’s Air & Water Show
August 27 Montrose Tour –Da-Boats
September 3 – 5 Labor Day Weekend Sail to Michigan City

Remember, there will not be a general meeting in July. But mark your calendars for our next General Meeting on Thursday, August 18.
We’ll be back at Columbia Yacht Club with a great program
